Best time of year to sell a car?
Discussion
Just had the 944 serviced and it was a bit expensive, £1000 for 4 new discs, new brake lines all around and other smaller things done. Having just had a £650 bill on my 306 due to a cambelt change I'm finding it a bit too expensive to keep 2 cars for now. So i'm thinking of selling both and just having one car to use every day but can also be fun to drive (haven't made my mind up on what to get though).
What I'm wondering is, what is the best time of year to sell a sports car like a 944? I was thinking of keeping it and enjoying it for another 6 months, as I might aswell profit from the expenses of having it serviced before selling it on. That would leave 6 months on the MOT and until the next service. However that means selling the car around January time. I may be wrong here, but I guess these cars sell much better in the summer than in the middle of winter, or is it more or less the same?

Chris,
A couple of thoughts ... if it's a coupe (not soft-top) then I don't think there is that much seasonality in the market for 944's, although it may go up a little in the spring/summer. However, if you have just coughed up a grand for maintenance, you won't get that back when you sell it, so keep the car and enjoy that grand well spent!
Other thought is that cars always sell better with 12 months of MOT left, so discount any thoughts of 'If I sell it in X month, it'll have Y months of MOT left.' Take it in for a test and then advertise it with 12 (or even 13) months of ticket left.
Oli.

errrr, sell the 306 and use the 944 as the everyday car that's also fun to drive. At least you don't have to worry about pipes for another 16 years and your brakes will be fine for another 3-4 road years
