Gee, I wouldn't think they would be hard to get a hold of, but anyway.... Virtually any Fiat/Lancia twin cam built before 1987 or so should fit. Getting one from an early FWD Regata 100s or similar would be a start. Fiat 131/132 124 sports and 125's, plus all Lancia models built after Fiat bought them out have got virtually the same DOHC motor. Even a Lancia Delta Integrale 8v motor would fit, and possibly the 16v turbo monster also, however I reckon the block might be different on those (although I can't remember for certain). Basically Fiat used the same motor for about 25 years in everything they built including Lancias (with a few SOHC exceptions). Hope this helps.

I was hoping someone would mention the Integrale.

All motors are basically the same with minor differences to sumps, filter locations & distributors. Long while since I looked but pretty sure Beta type engines have a mount on the cylinder head which wasn't on the in-line engines but shouldn't be too complicated to sort. Yup Integrale lump is the same block as the rest.

There's a Beta Monte Carlo floating about with the Ferrari 3.0 QV engine from an 8.32, so that CAN be made to fit...

Been doing some research. Apparently any of the new 16v FWD motors would fit (including Integrale) but they tilt in the opposite direction to the Beta motor, so you would need to use a gearbox from a later model as well, to keep things aligned. Should all be possible, and not too difficult to get going, though!

Beware here of thinking all Lancia / Fiat twin cams are interchangeable, cos its not that simple. I'm not an expert but I know that its a major job to get a Thema engine in a Beta (I wanted a Thema turbo in my Beta Coupe when I was young & silly) so I would imagine the reverse is not so easy. Your best resource is Chris Bastow at Betacar In Bradford, has 30 years Beta / Lancia experience and was the Lancia Motor Club Beta advisor. www.betacar.co.uk

As I said, the later model engines tilt 20 degrees in the opposite direction to the 20 degrees the Beta motor slants at. However, they are essentially the same motor architecture, they just need a little jiggling around to make it fit properly, with a gearbox attached. Couldn't use a Beta gearbox for this though.
