<RANT> Here''s a proposal. All Road/Traffic planning staff and politicians should be forced to drive open-top cars EXCLUSIVELY. They should be FINED if found driving with the roof on. (OK perhaps if it is actually RAINING we could make an exception...). One trip through town would sort out their opinion on environmental priorities.... Since driving roofless cars I''ve become quite the clean-air environmentalist - and these dirty, filthy, outdated vile diesel buses are a menace to public health and our planet. It is OBSCENE that public transport vehicles should be exempt from emissions tests! Grrr. Sorry. Rant over. </RANT>

Very good point "stop the filth". As an Open top car driver myself its very clear to see who the real polutors are. I often don't let buses out beacuse of the cr*p they belch out. Its interesting to note 128 times. A single decker bus can hold 52 People. That means if they all the passengers drove a car EACH, then they would polute less than half the polutants the bus does. A double decker would still polute more than if every predestrian drove a car. Odd to see so many green campaigners saying that people should travel by bus (I have even seen adverts on the bus saying this). BAN THE BUS

Its gets better. As old deisel busses leave so much filth in the air, a modern car will clean the dirty air as it drives through it. I'm sure there's something ironic in there somewhere !
