Does anyone know of anyone who know their stuff and provide the service of checking out TVRs for a first time buyer?
Or should I just go for an RAC checkup???

Yep - A guy called Rob Ingleby. Check out his site www.findasportscar.co.uk I used him to source my car. Rob was honest and fair (to both myself and the seller) and I got a cracking car!

Cheers,
Phil

Maybe a bit far for you but I got Fernhurst's to check out my prospective purchase. They charged £70 and I got a very comprehensive report. I think this is money well spent, in fact essential for a private purchase.
Don't whatever you do use a non-TVR specialist - there's too much to know about that's unique to TVR's.

Hello Marcob, David Hendry arent to far from you(Malmesbury) and they do inspections etc. The mechanics are good and it is about 80 quid I think.

Yup - at the risk of sounding as though I am on commission, Rob Ingleby's the man. Excellent advice and service.
Rob lives in Northamptonshire but travels countrywide.
He inspected my newly aquired Chim in Cheltenham (in the snow!!) and a detailed report and photos were with me within a couple of days. He is no cheaper than the AA or RAC but at least you get a report from someone with an intimate knowledge of TVRs (he has a Griffith) and not someone who deals with anything on 2 or 4 wheels.
I bought the car on his "thumbs-up" and can thoroughly recommend his service.

If you have your eye on one, I think David Batty comes well recommended. Also, and if you haven't found one yet - Rob will get you the best car at the best price.
