We just bought a JVC Everio - GZ-MG21E, very impressed so far (Pixmania were cheapest).

It has a 20GB hard drive, so it's easy to find your recordings and spectacularly easy to transfer on to PC

One issue though, it's boxed in English but only has German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish etc manuals

Congratulations! Me n the wife are four weeks away. Glad it al went well.

I bought one recently in preparation and I decided to go for a Mini DVD camera, basis for this being that as much as I'd like to, I'm not going to have the time to edit, edit, edit. The mini DVD is instand gratification but editing is a pain in the arse (can be done).

Have a gander at this for a quick guide to at least picking the right type, before you get into whcih make and model...

That's a good link Olf's posted

You could also go down to WHS and get a copy of 'What Digital Camcorder' Magazine.

There's some sample stuff on this link.

The first article would seem particularly relevant.
