Main dealer discounts
Discussion
I'll be specifying all the toys soon for my 997GT3 and was wondering if there is discount to be had from the dealer with regard to either options thrown in for free or an overall reduction in final price? Also is there scope for haggling on finance APR's?
I have loosely been thrown the statement "there's a queue of people behind you who are willing to pay full price" or words to that affect.
With the dealer set to make the best part of £8000 on any new GT3, just how far do you think they will go with discounted prices?
ps they've promised a free set of mats (WOW WHOOPEE!!)

Just managed to get a great deal on my 997C2S.
Porsche really don't discount on the "purchase price" but are willing to negotiate on trade-in and finance terms (rather than overall amount). This is especially the case if you have a previous history with them and a good relationship.
I bought my second Porsche in 12 months from the same guy and he really helped. Knowing he'll get all my business from now he cut a really great deal on my trade-in. Porsche will tell you that their finance is on a 'standard package' but this is rubbish. As a 'returning customer' I got much better terms that original (I'm a banker so I negotiated quite hard..). Independent finance is much cheaper but financing a car through Porsche I've found also buys a lot of 'goodwill' when it comes to any problems, etc. If you know your maths (which most people really don't when it comes to different finance structures) this is your best bet.
If you have a nice history with an OPC and are already on their 'books' then try negotiating on the finance terms rather than the actual price (as this is pretty meaningless). Assuming of course that you're not paying cash..!! Also, if you have a trade in, that's where they are flexible.
Free mats, that's just insulting.. My guy threw in a VIP Package to a Porsche Carrera Cup event without me even asking..!! If you find a decent OPC sales guy, hang on to him..!! Expect invitations to car launches, merchandise, etc.
