I was at West London OPC on Tues and was supposed to have a spin in the silver 997tt they have, however I was informed that the engine was ''buzzed'' during a test drive and so the car was incapacitated. I did look it over in the workshop though, and true enough it is having surgery done. Someone must have been giving it the full beans, was this anyone here?

By "buzzed" do they mean someone changed down rather than up, perchance?

It'd be a Tip though, surely?

The West London OPC 997TT silver demo car that I saw was a Tip. Not sure how you 'buzz' one with the auto upshift at the limiter and they can't be downshifted above the limiter either...

Sounds strange.

I agree, and did question the Sales Guy, he said he believed that someone had changed gear and kept their foot hard on the gas, basically didn't lift. I still felt that this should've been prevented from damaging engine by the electronic safeguards but I didn't question him further as he seemed a little vague about it.

When I had a Tip Boxster some years ago I never lifted off to change gear. It was impossible to over-rev the car, even if you wanted to change down a gear the electronics simply wouldnt let you unless the revs were right!!

Maybe it was another problem that they didnt want to disclose!?
