Does anyone know what the key combi is to get a tilda above a letter?
Unless you've got a non-standard keyboard driver, there isn't one as far as I'm aware. If a certain font contains such letters you can pick them using the Character Map tool on a windows machine (Start>All Programmes>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map).
From word help:
CTRL+SHIFT+~ then the letter (search the help 'insert an international character')
Start/Run/Type "OSK"/any good? Oh yes, and as above. Hold the ALT key down and type the ascii code of the char (on the numeric keypad) for example ALT-156 is £ (remembered from days when keyboards just had #)
