Firefox history help please..

Hi.
Been using Firefox for a year or so now, everything going more a less ok except just recently I've been having a problem with my 'history'
A couple of months ago, I went to the 'Go' tab at the top, and the pages listed below (which are meant to be my last 10 or so pages visited) were showing pages from a couple of days ago - and thus not updating to my most recently viewed pages.
Cleared the history, and it started working again, but now in the last day or so it has gone back to doing the same.
I guess I have changed a setting and forgot about it, and my history is getting full? What do I need to change?
