Can anyone tell me what level CAMS license you need to be able to import a car under the Race and Rally scheme? I understand that you have to use it for 2 CAMS endorsed events a year or more and provide scrutineering papers to get a road going exemption, are there any more catches to this? It sounds like a good way to get a cheapish Japanese sports car into the country for some track action.

Gday Matthew. I will find out for you today, I *think* it is just a level2 licence (ie not full competition). Probably best to arrange it through someone who is already importing unless you have GOOD contacts in Japan. There are a few people doing it, depending on what type of car you are after.

I am dealng with John Major/ Kim Ledger of the Rotary Shop (RX7 of course), John has a series7 RX7 on B reg for himself. Should be at the AHG track for the next sprint round Sun 27/8.

Cheers
Tim

Thanks for the short version Tim, I'll look to come out to the sprint day and have a bit of a chat to people about it. I'm trying to see where I need to be financially to make it work as well.

No worries Matthew, sorry I haven't had a chance to get any more info. JM has been crook lately with the flu.
See you at the track; The RX7 has just had the engine rebuilt (again), hoping for a better run this time...
