Which make / model of uv filter should I put on my lenses for the least quality loss.
Basically I just want to protect them before I use them.

A lot in here don't use them. If it's a telephoto with a long hood I can understand that, but if it's a short lens, I always use a UV.

To be honest I doubt if any of us have the 'proof' that one make is better than another, but as with lenses, I suggest that you get what you pay for.

The last UV I bought cost £70 inc P&P, (IIRC) and I suggest that is a normal for a good 77mm UV.

Steve

Edited to add - It was the Nikon L37C UV

Thanks,
I've ordered a couple of canon ones, seems a false economy not to.
The one on my 100-400 is a Hasselblad so I think that ones worth keeping.

I keep one on when not in use so just a cheap one. he only type I'd spend a bit of cash on would be a CP for a thin one

I have hoya pro UV filters on all my glass, seems silly to spend a grand on glass and then risking it for the sake of a filter.

I notice no image degradation with Hoya S-HMC UV/Haze filters. Use them will all my lenses.
