i don't have the software and would'nt know how to set the pots up
am i best to let an INDY do it or will it cost an arm and a leg ??

Pots are around £35-£40 each, including fitting and setting up I'd say no more than an hour, but ring your nearest Indie and ask. Also you might not need both changing.

The pots 'tell' the ECU how open the throttles are. (Its just a potentiometer so as it moves the voltage into the ECU varies)

The setup is getting the throttles physically open the same amount (specifically sucking the same amount of air) and the pots to read the same value.

A bad pot gives spiky false readings so the ECU thinks that throttle is much wider open than it actually is and dumps more fuel than is needed and rough running ensues.

drop me a line with your address and a couple of quid for postage and I'll bung you a CD in the post, then all you need is a laptop with a serial port a serial lead and you can set them up yourself

A word of caution to all, and this is well ment and not sour grapes.
Having the softwear and theory is one thing, using it to get the engine to run correctly is another!
Why use a dealer or independent? It is the skill of the person doing the job and in our case a person who has set literally 100's of them including the champonship winning Tuscan Challange car.
Only last week we had a car in where the owner had tried to set it himself and we had to reset it for him.
