Driving through town last night and it was like the rag top club.
55 plate Silver Merc 320 SLK in front
F plate Blue Wedge in the middle (me!)
04 plate White Porker Boxter behind
Stopped at a set of red lights and while waiting for them to change Mr Rep pulled up beside us in the right filter lane driving his Shiny new Vectra. He stops short of the lights winds his passenger window down and very politly asked me if I minded "Giving it some gas" for him because he "loved the sound of a 'proper' engine".
The lights changed and he sat and waited while I drove off before making his turn. Several other people craned their necks round when they heard the burble coming down the road, totally ignoring the £60/70k worth of motors I was sandwiched between.
Kind of gives you a warm glow
Hmmm - wonder if I splattered that shiny white Porsche with anything while I was tenderly blipping my throttle

Just got back from the pub in the Esprit: when I started it up, one of the guys remarked that 'something so old should NOT sound so good'. Guess my engine rebuild skills aren't too shoddy then
Took a circuitous route home, exiting a wet roundabout the back end broke away but it came back with a quick flick.
I glanced at the speedo and I was the wrong side of 50. If that had been the TVR, I'd be
at you all now

Remind me why I'm selling it?Funnily enough, no. Whilst it's true that bits cost a mint, a sorted Lotus engine is as strong as anything else so I see no reason why this one should break (for a while, at least
). It's partly to do with not having the time to get it as tidy as I would like, but mostly that for me, it lacks the sense of 'occasion' that the TVR provides.
That said, I'm not exactly going to give it away just to see the back of it. For the same reason that they cost a lot to fix, Esprits are worth a few quid as spares

When I park the wedge in the school car park it gets much more attention than....350Z...new £36k SLK.....new 307cc...etc, etc. That's why I don't take it in anymore during term times....it only takes one
