What technology do I need to transfer an image on a 35mm transparency to a pc?

Can you get a scanner big enough to fit a trans-sexual on it?

Put the scanner into a manual mode. Select the type of document you wish to scan usually found in a drop-down list.

I have heard of people who have been very happy with the (relatively) simple ploy of using a slide copier fitted on a digital camera. On some cameras it might be possible to do it without any specific hardware if the focus would work at very short range. A clean diffused light source would be desirable and I assume you are talking slides rather than negatives ...

I use a slide scanner as I used to use mainly slides, and still do for landscapes as I don't like the effect of the 1.6x crop of my 20D and super-wide lenses compared to good old 24mm lenses and 35mm.

I have an Acer Scanwit, it was only £250 new ages ago, must be a lot less on Ebay now. At full quality it produces pics almost exactly the same size as my 20D does. Negs scan variably in terms of colour, anything faster than 200ASA scans with noticeable grain, but 50 and 100ASA slides scan really well in terms of colour and detail. See as examples the stuff in the folder below (though at this file size it's hard to see the quality!):
