Anyone know this red rose??

good morning all.
After 6 months of deciding i was getting a Cerbera i have finally been on the hunt up and down the country looking for the perfect one.
I went to see this one yesterday www.pistonheads.com/sales/78775.htm which was in lovely condition and priced what i thought very competitively.
It has a few stone chips on the side on the one door, how hard is it to get these touched up (it's one tone red bull blue) or does it require a full door respray?
Anyway does anybody know the car or history, it does seem priced low being a red rose and the low mileage so sligtly wary there could be something hidden?
Althoguh saying that the seller was a lovely guy and very honest, full service history and reciepts and it drove beautifully compared to the other 6 i've been in recently.
What should i do????!!!!!!

I have asked him and he does need the money and he's based up north so doesn't get much interest in the car. He's also only owned it 4 months and done 100 miles and needs the cash for his business (he explained it all and makes sense)

If I was buying private I would arrange an inspection or at least ring the garage that carried out the last service. I've just got mine back from Automedon who told me a few horror stories about later Cerbs, particularly chassis problems, (some of the cars have come via main dealers so even that's not a certainty).
Mine got a nice review thankfully but it's a lot of money to spend without an expert opinion.
If the car's straight I wouldn't hesitate! Good luck

Yes even after a service things can go wrong but without a shadow of doubt have it checked over first. If you buy it, it would be a shame to see it back on the market after a few months when you find out there are others things wrong with it. My Red Rose is a one owner from 2001 and he kept the car in tip top condition. There is a thread on here about the price of cerbs going down and the car your looking at is a great price. If it all pans out and you buy it, you will be buying a one hell of a car.
PS. cerberas only go down in price if you sell them, if you don't have to there priceless.
It does look good, though it does not seem to have been driven much, Cerb's don't like this.
I would get it inspected though not by his garage. Maybe someone independant.

I would be inclined to make a slightly lower offer, the season is coming to an end,and as you have said "he needs the money".

Have a look here for price comparisons, www.tvrstansted.co.uk/carsales_current.php This car was up for alot more some time ago, I seem to recall is was up for £31k ish, sp perhaps the owner has reduced the price to sell.
Do get an independant check, and talk to the garage that serviced the car, as you may pick up a horror Cerby by mistake. Check for the engine rail rot, epecially the top rails, as if these go, its a lot of work to correct.
Apart from that, have fun when you find your car

Have you hit this number yet Julian? I have watched your tweeks with much interest! Also, what do you and Jools reckon would be the most there is squeezable from the normally asperated 4.5, with say head ajustments etc etc.

We are at 426bhp at the moment with larger bore intermediate pipes yet to fit, so should see comfortably over 430bhp. Modified manifolds should release a bit more but have not had the time to get them designed yet. Thereafter it'll be a case of engine head/internal work................now that will be interesting.

Why are you squuezing every last bhp out of the induction etc? You wouldn't feel any improvement over 3/4bhp. The throttle response, I doubt you could improve. Just get into the engine and release its 'real' potential

Because most owners tend to throw ££££'s at engine rebuilds to get just over 400bhp. My car has been improved to make the most of the induction and exhaust flow via mapping which allows the engine to perform better and much more efficiently (have you seen how badly mapped most 4.5 Cerb's are?). The average re-mapped car produces around 375-390bhp, with all of the improvements I've added at a low cost I should see over 430bhp, that's an extra 55bhp, which believe me is very noticeable.

Took my car to TCS and had induction,remap and new sports pipes its now doing 390bhp. I took it in expecting it to make 300/330bhp before the remap, but little did i know the car was only doing 230/240bhp and yet it still felt good to drive. Jules saw my car their last week, pitty it didnt break 400 but 390 is good enough. makes me wonder what other cerbs out there are actually making.
Yup - lets face it, as one of the last ones it's going to be expensive compared to the other 65 currently advertised. As already mentioned on another thread, the prices seemed to have crashed slightly this summer comparing to when I first started looking last winter.
If he's dropped it £4K then that's the equivilant of a £2k drop on a £15K car, so probably reacting to market forces?
