Rubber Bumpers

I have just fitted kia indicators to my S - see the indicator thread. This led me to another question:

Unfortunately I discovered that the rubber bumpers on mine are only held on by the old indicators - when I removed them, the rubber bit stuck out straight. I think they haven't been refitted correctly when the bonnet was replaced last year.

I can't remember how the old one was fitted. I think there was a metal bracket that it slotted into, then the other end was screwed through from the wheelarch.

I am going to have to drill through and put a couple of self tappers through from behind, to pull the bumper back into place.

Anybody got any pics or a description of how the rubber bumper is meant to be fitted?

replaceable galvanised metal insert inside the bumper - self tapping screws come through from boot through rubber and into the strips -

OK that was how it looked, I just wondered if there was a bit missing.

yep usually the insert is badly corroded so once disturbed the only option is to replace

No the metal inserts are there and intact - I just wasn't sure how it fixed on. The wee self tap screw hole was a bit of a clue, mind.

I've gaffa taped it in place and I'll drill a new hole through the lot, from the back of the bonnet panel, if I can manoeuvre a drill in place.

Mine had two bolts passed through the plate and then a nut to secure,B&Q sell some galv strip which is exactly the correct size (just needs cutting to length} and it also has loads of holes in too
