Just a quick question hopefully someone will know the answer.

As far as I'm aware there were 4 different bootlid designs fitted to Chimaera. Does anyone know what vintage the one with no external hinges or metal work was? I think it was 99/2000 onwards can anyone confirm this?

Iain

I'm not sure there was a clear time demarcation between the variants but as a guide mine was registered October 99 and it has the final boot lid design. During my search for my 450 I came across a November 99 registered Chimaera which had the previous design. I think this can be explained by the production line not being very linear back then!

As a general rule i think 99 ish.. but as quite rightly said you'll probably find the odd 2000 model with external hinges..

Does seem to depend on what they had available when each car was made.

Mine is a 98 and has the external hinges, but everything else is all 'late model'

Mine has no visible hinges or metalwork Iain, it was manufactured around July 1999 (according to the dates stamped on some parts) and registered in August 1999.

Mine was registered march 99, and has the hinges hidden, so I guess early 99 onwards.
