After seeing this video, how nice it would be to own one of these insane machines.
Not known for reliability tho but I guess that's the price to pay for massive power.

That is seriously quick.High reving turbo charged engine won't last too long, that's the only downside..but still worth it if you can overtake Elise that easy

Won't get 100,000 miles from them but they last well enough to get a good few years fun. There's nothing faster for the money, you need a serious Ultima to match it in a straight line or a Radical to beat it round the bends, either will be more than 2x to 3x the price.

I work for Holeshot Racing and the dax rushes you're talking about have our turbo kits on them. The dax in each video only have our "small" 300-350 hp kit on them. This proves to be just as reliable as a standard bike engine in a car. After about 3-4 years of use the gaer boxes wear but this is normal even in the bike. We can get over 700 hp @ the wheels but this kit is a race kit and is fairly "unreliable" in that the life of the engine is shortened between rebuilds but what would you expect from 700HP from 1300cc

thanks in advance

the turbo kits for the hayabusa start at £3400 +vat which includes: turbo, headers, plenum (with extra injector rail, kit is 8 injector set up), intercooler, extra ecu, fuel pump and pressure regulator. there is £600 +vat labour on top to modify your engine internals to cope with being turbo'd, cam timing and compression reduction. this is for the 300hp kit.

we did do a turbo busa elise it was over 350hp at the wheels, but the last I heard it was on a trailer and involved in a crash, I didnt know that the owner had got it back up and running
this conversion for the elise is fairly expensive but we do seem to have quite a bit of interest in it. the expence is due to the diff with integral reverse that has to be used, this £2500 by itself then there is the price of the engine around £3000, and the turbo kit on top from £3400 then there is the frame work to fit it in which is over £1000. so the kit is around £10000. people seem put of when they realise the cost involved, considering that you could build a westfield type kit car with naturally aspirated busa for about that much.

In a car used for track days (as opposed for short duration sprints/hillclimbs) you really need to add pistons to that. I'd also add rods personally. I know Jack doesn't suggest pistons but given they only cost £350 and you're pulling it apart to add the spacer plate anyway, it's cheap protection. Whilst you're in there the TTS oil pump is a good move too with a baffle in the sump.

Does Jack now include an intercooler in the £3400 ?

the kit prices are based on the kits for the bikes. an intercooler is included in that kit so for a car application the cost of the bike intercooler should be replaced with the cost of an intercooler to suit the car. so overall the kit costs around the same. rods and pistons are a good idea if you want to run more than 0.5 bar of boost ie more than 300hp. but we have kits in cars that are 4 years old now which dont have rods or pistons and are running around the 300hp mark. obviously it makes sense to go for these parts if you can afford them because then you can run more boost to accheive more power if you find there isnt enough on tap.(dosnt happen often).

That kind of reliability is very impressive! Are the kits in Daxs mostly?
Any of those kits in a Fisher fury?

we have our kits in westfields, caterhams, daxes, strikers, radicals, adr's etc. we have a turbo kit in a fisher fury but on an R1 engine. this is running reliably at 210hp @ the wheels at 0.5bar boost. im am certain that one of our turbo kits on a busa would fit into the same space.

R1 turbo..... I keep comming back to this for my Little R1 indy that I am building.

210bhp at the wheels, so how much is the complete kit for that and how does it perform?

the price of the kit for the R1 depends on the year of the engine, if it is a carbed engine the kit is £2800 +vat + £600+vat labour on the engine. however if it is an injected engine the kit is nearly £1000 more and we dont do a kit for the first injected R1 ie 02-03. if you have an injected engine I would suggest that you sell it and buy a carbed engine (cheaper anyway)and get that turbo'd, plus the carbed engines have the added bonus of a shorter first gear which really helps setting off (in a car application). the kit on the carbed engines works really well, really nice and smooth and looks a lot less complicated when installed into a car than the injected kits do.

OK well I guess that settles it as mine is an 02-03 injected motor and its already wired up and driving so if its an engine change jobbie then its not worth it to me.
Cheers for the info though.
