Looks like the Mustang is going to have as many special editions as the MX5

oops - my mistake! V8 it is.
Still not a fan of the styling though. Prefer the grill to have the spotlights and the rear arch scoops (I assume they don't function like most of the ones I've seen) are a bit 'bolt-on'. The hood scoop is a bit contrived too given that the air intake is nowhere near it. Just a personal thing, but I think if you're going to add these bits they should actually do something.

This concept was Shelby's supercharged V6 - the CS6 but you have to question the point when the V6 is an iron block and the V8 is all-alloy.

The GT-H shown is the Hertz rental-only car but a production version will follow which puts the CS6 in limbo I'd say. They also have a Boss Mustang on the books ready for a 2007/8 launch and all to generate predictable sales based upon the human need to indulge in one-upmanship.

Not too bothered about funcionality here. The car is a retro piece of art for those who drool over the old stuff but who never had the chance to own one. It's being able to live the American Dream as it was then, not through rose-tinted specs. Having said that, the last Mach 1 had a functional hood shaker but in days of EFI, it's more evocation than function. I do question power bulges that aren't necessary however as they impede forward vision. Some are useful for underbonnet cooling and pressure relief I would guess.

The black and white ones I posted are the production version of the Hertz jobbies. I agree though, I don't see the point of the supercharged V6......maybe it'll die a death now.
I think some cars can get away with power bulges even if they are not functional, especially muscle cars. The twin "nostrils" on the Monaro VXR add a heck of a lot of agression to the front end (although even I didn't like them at first, they've certainly grown on me).
The one that raises a smile most is on the Kia Sedona. Just needs Viper stripes now
