Now quite a lot of you replied to my 'Jealous Scum' topic so I know that we are all singing from the same song sheet.

Right to cut a long story short - after getting the quote and nearly killing myself coz of the price I proceed to the local supermarket to get some alcohol to drown my sorrows. I walk out of the supermarket and a young lad is standing by my car looking at the boot. As I got close i got more and more worried and it turns out that a van driver (ct) had reversed into the back of my car putting a HUGE crack in the bumper and a dent and a scrape on the boot lid!

Now you can imagine how pd off I was when the boy said I saw it all MR, then proceeded to tell me that it was a kinda blue colour and he didn't think to get the reg number.

The story doesn't end there - 3 weeks ago I got a puncture on the rear drivers side (screw in the tyre), now this happens once in a while so imagine my surprise when I hear the tap tap tap as I drive back from the super market, yes another screw. Before I knew it the tyre was flat and the wall was completely fd.

This is all after I spent £1,500 on a service.

I think my 3 months of Porsche ownership has got to come to an end. I have gotta be the unluckiest 996 owner around!

If anyone would like to curse with me or better that tale of woe I would love to hear it coz it might just cheer me up.

Ask the supermarket if the area is covered by cctv-could give you details of the reg number of the van.The bad news is that most supermarket car parks are classed as private property so even if you prove the van hit your car then it would be quite difficult to bring a worthwhile court action against the van owner(probably cost you as much as the repair to bring it to court with no guarantee of success).Plod would not want to get involved if the car park is private property-its a civil matter.

Now I know this is a bit of a "my mates brother's cousins nephew" story, but my Brothers "mate" did prang a car in a supermarket car park whilst a pikey student, decided to drive off (numb-nuts) and forgot all about it for quite some time...til the letter dropped thru his letterbox. Somehow (and this is where it gets vague...sorry...) the owner had got video footage of him getting out and inspecting it, getting back in and driving off, along with his reg plate, and was tracked. Don't know how, but he got a severe kicking for his lack of judgement, and *I think* he may have even got points, but that may be my diminishing memory.

Anyway, cutting to chase, it may be worth a shot and trying to get CCTV footage...

Was having dinner last night and watched a guy park, leaving 6 foot of space at his rear, and you guessed it, 0 space between my front bumper and his. He turns the engine off, so clearly he was satisfied with his parking.

I stepped out the restaurant and politely asked him to please remove his car from mine, to which he replied 'oh, is it touching, sorry mate'

Well, atleast he apologised..

I had a classic the other week in kew.

some guy in a jag, parked in front of mine, comes of the pub and gets into it. lots of fumbling around and I thought he should not be on the road!

anwyay he starts reversing (we are sitting outside watching it right in front of us) and he then bangs into my car! me and my mate spring up, run over to him as he tries to drive off and stop him.

the guy is shouting n all sorts n my mate calls the old bill. it was in a T junction so he had to turn round and was going nowhere with us in front of him.

Plod turn up as it is all kicking off and the guy is WAY over the limit.

plod tell me to clear off as I was furious but at least it stopped him getting on the road and killing a poor pedestrian or innocent driver.

what a fcuking w4nker n he deserves all he gets. only a tiny scratch on mine but I will be claiming on insurance as I am doing a ring trip this weekend and it could do with a fresh lick of paint on the front from stone chips. the incident report and police witnesses should keep his insurance company happy!! will I be ok with this??

some people really do not give a to55 no matter what car it is!!

what a bummer.Sorry to hear this.

But this sort of thing is the reason I wont run a 996 or anything too nice as a daily driver.
Just couldnt take the stress of leaving it in car parks, esp. supermarkets (avoid at all costs..always take the wifes shitbox).

As a weekend and track toy, you can plan your route, your parking and go early to avoid traffic.Plus driving it becomes more of an event.

Could you do the same?

Its sad, but thats life nowadays.

tis true peter but I gave up worrying about it a long time ago really as you get used to it in london and there are quitea few of them around in SW lonodn which is a plus.

I was in richmond the other day and must have seen about 10! including a gt3rs and an X50 convertible.

if anything it makes them visible and less rare and people around there have more things to worry about.

I do worry when I take it to friends or parents as they are much rarer there and will provoke more interest. try to take the train or another car!

should be able to sort the claim out and get the front blown in for nothing. you can only see the scratch if you get real close! and it is minor

Failing to stop or report an accident is an offence under the Road Traffic Act, and it carries a maximum of six month's porridge (). So plod will have to follow up, and it'll make you're claim a lot easier. Besides which you could just bring it in small claims court. Won't cover the full cost, but it will p*ss him off!

See the CPS website for details.

Every corner of my 996 has been autographed by some arse of a driver, but lets face it it shouldn't matter what you drive, people should take as much care parking next to your porsche as to any other car, people just don't seem to care.

I'm guessing that's a euphemism.
