There's a debate on our uni bulletin board about another 1000bhp supercar.

The talk has kind of drifted over to Locked diffs Vs LSDs. Feel free to have a read through and let me know if I've made any mistakes...

Fantastic! I've never seen one of those before. Think I'll be having a play with it when (well, IF) he ever replies.

Cupid stunt he was.

AFAIK locked diffs only come on off roader type things for getting you over very loose/muddy surfaces, or is there a RWD road car with a lockable rear diff???

Original Audi UR Quattro had a lockable rear diff... (front and centre diffs weren't lockable IIRC)

Slightly off topic, but can someone enlighten me as to how a 'locking' diff works (not a locked diff).

I have a few ideas how it might switch but I've never played with one myself.

diff locks described here.

Very simple really. Most tractors have had them for years.
