Boot and bonnet cables - backup

Ha sanyone fitted a back up cable and if so how. Would be a great and cheap mod just in case. I guess it's as simple as a bicycle cable and rigging this up ove rthe arches for the boot and cable tied to the lower chassis for the bonnet.

I did buy a bike cable but haven't got round to looking at how it may fit.
On the bonnet it just need to attach to where the original does and mayve just drop down, cable tied to things and cable ties to the lower chassis rail - as suggested with a loop ideally but as it's a back up as long as it can be pulled by pliers can't see any need.
Boot - same again - just need to feed around over the arch into the flappy bit behind the seat.
I've already got a green one problem - either battery drain or immobiliser which I need to sort. £££'s already.

I've no idea why Paul but I think the 4.Xs seem particularly to suffer from battery drain. I worry if I don't have the accumate connected for just a single day (which reminds me, I didn't connect it after my Sunday hoon)
Did you see the comment about a Red Top 20 battery on one of the current threads? Very interesting although it will mean a change to the footwell carpets too because you gain a couple of inches in the passenger footwell. It's on my list of things to look into but it will have to wait a while so my bank account can recover!

After having a very stiff bonnet release cable (until re-oiled) I fitted a back up cable. Originally used some thin gauge wire attached to bonnet latch but discovered that this was earthing on the plenum! So now have a thick boot lace that goes through a hole on the airvent passenger side and sticks out by about 5mm, and that I can tug to open the bonnet. Works a treat!
Haven't got around to the boot yet.
