I have no doubt that either Champ Cars or IRL are more interesting than F1 at the moment(that wouldn't be hard). The point I was making was that interest in these two series has dropped off alarmingly since the split ten years ago. Even Dan Wheldon's 2005 win at Indy received scant attention - which was hugely disappointing.
The early morning TV coverage of IRL that we get on terrestiral TV in this country is not very well presented - great chunks of the race go awol with no explanantion whatsoever.
That said the last race I saw was quite astonishing with just about the entire (small) field bunched together and running 3 abreast inches apart for lap after lap.
On the other hand I still think it is a race format that is won or lost - perhaps more lost, on pitstops though for different reasons to F1.
The feed formula is a bit of a joke with the rent-a-car teams making up numbers and one or two of them seemingly happy to take money for rides without being able to prepare the cars to make it beyond a few laps. In some cases not even complete the first lap of an oval.

Sky Sports show the IRL races live on Sunday evening.... but I'm guessing you don't have access to it though.

You guessed well.
Plus I'm not sure I would want to watch the whole thing BUT the highlights well edited and with the gaps filled in with a precis of events would be great.
