Rear Projection TV Broken
Discussion
We have a Sony 42" Rear projection TV (KP-41DS1U) in our house which has broken, and won't turn on any more. The standby light comes up fine, but if you try to turn it on it clicks, you hear the static and high-pitched whine come on if you listen closely, but no picture or sound whatsoever comes out. A few seconds later it will click again, possibly turning itself back off but the standby light doesn't come back.
Any ideas what sort of things fail in these? There's secondary and primary on the power board, which one is for what functions?
I've taken it apart and given it a good look over. I thought an electrolytic capacitor might have gone - I once replaced one in an iiyama monitor which would not power up and that fixed it. But I even tested all the capacitors on the power supply board and they all charged/held charge pretty much as they should.
It's a shame because it's quite new - it has built in freeview and is widescreen.
Alternatively, anyone selling off a rear projection tv??
