Nicely shot J. However, I would be interested to hear your comments about the contrast and exposure when you get to see them on your home PC.
I really think that the screen you use can make a big difference to the view you get. They are both good shots that look fine, but they don't have the punch and spirit of your usual work Justin. I put it down to your laptop screen.
Let me know what you think.

The first one is very nice. As for the second one... if you could use the sky for the first one as the sky for the second one, and clone out the power lines and transmission tower in the back of the second one, the second photo would be very nice as well...
I'm on my laptop so don't have Photoshop I'm afraid, just Paint and Canon DPP! J

First two look better to me, second seem over-processed. I prefer your first attempts!

Argh! Ok - back to the originals - really need to get the laptop colour matched!
Edited to add : Just got a simple profile and I agree the second lot look over processed. Hopefully the puddycat thread is better?

Like the first one, the ground is a tad under exposed. The second one doesn't have an interesting sky, so don't include so much in the shot, make it a third of the shot at most, not two thirds. Personally I'm not into transposing other skies into the shot, I try to shoot what I see.
For hay bales getting down lower, such as kneeling, and getting one in the foreground can help the interest and lead to less sky.
I'd be looking for a tad more colour saturation too - 81B filter?
I'm not trying to be critical just to offer objective advice, tell me to go jump if you like!

All comments welcome! Thanks.
It was a bugger of a sky on that second one, and I did do another one with 2/3rds ground 1/3rd sky. As it was a quick stop-off and shoot with the car parked up on the verge I didn't have enough time to get the filters out.
As for the ground on the 1st, if I had a copy of Photoshop I could select that area and sort it out, but I'm just running with DPP to do the raw conversion and Windows Paint at best!
