New Brake Discs & Parts in General

Morning all!
Todays starter for 10....
I'm after a pair of new front brake discs,where's the best place to source these from? I'm assuming a call to the factory is best - all I'm after is a set of originals nothing else. Any idea on cost?
And finally - in general is the factory the best place to source parts, I assume they have a full spares holding and shipping capability?

If you are replacing your discs the ONLY way to go is to get the AP upgrade. The factory (drilled) discs are time limted because of micro (and often macro) cracking that will occur around the holes, which are only there to look good and don't function, they just fill up with dust. The AP upgrade discs are a direct swap out replacement and are grooved, ie no cracking, and are made of a different metal alloy which results in better braking. Speak to Plans Motorsport. I think the upgrades are available for all models on the front and for some on the back. Highly recomended.

Havent had a problem with the cracking... but quick question, are the grooved discs a lot louder, as I have them on my alfa and they do make a racket under heavy braking...
Also the most important question......How Much????

I think they are a bit more expensive than the stock factory discs but the premium s worth it. In my expericence they are no noisier. I think most noise is pad dependant.

) but if the price is similar sounds a no-brainer. Some people get on with drilled discs others don't. If you run an aggressive pad and are hard on the brakes then you are more likely to suffer cracking.
Grooved discs will 'sweep' the pad clean and a prone to slightly more noise as a rule. However pad compound / brake use is much more likely to be the cause of sound issues!
Drilled merely provide a disbursement path for the layer of hot gases & crap that gets trapped between the pad and disc. You have to keep the holes clear though for them to work properly !!! However even with grooved discs you should regularly clean the grooves as they can fill up with crap too.

I find it odd that you are worried about the noise brake disks will make when you drive a Noble which has loud engine in it anyway.
But yes groved disks can increase the noise under braking on any car. In my experience, on my Leon, you only hear it under heavy braking and the noise actually sounds really good.
One advantage of groved disks is that they tell you when to replace the disks. As soon as the grive disappears, you need new disks.
