Ride hight: pump it up?

Hello All,
Some guy I met had those airpressure assisted shockabsorbers on his triumph spitfire. If he needed a higher ride he would just pop his trunk and pump them up a bit...
My brainwave: get a 12v compressor (for the loadadjusters on the scorpio?), a small airtank and with some wiring, hoses, valves and the correct size shocks maybe it's possible to give the S some more ride height when battling the speedbumps. When driving on the highway again...flip a swich and lower it to the ideal height for that.
Any thoughts? Any experiences? Would those shocks be available at all for an "S"?
