Just heard that all TVR staff where sent home today until further notice. Can anyone confirm this? Reason given was the fact that there is no stock to make cars and that it will take 6 months to replenish the materials in question. Nice one cockolia.

The headline
LUXURY car maker TVR today admitted a management "failure" had led to the temporary closure of its Blackpool factory.
And also adriana sanchez statets
"All production staff will be back at work Monday morning at which point production will resume as usual."
and when they get to work they will find out they still have no bloody parts and then they will have to go home again for a week!.

sorry if i come over a bit stressed

I doubt NS will be paying 200 odd workers to sit at home on full pay by choice? If his wealth is as described he obviously has money at his disposal, I am sure the suppliers are more than happy to take it. I doubt very much if his involvement of parts supply goes much further than signing cheques put in front of him.

If funds are available, maybe all NS is guilty of is allowing himself to be surrounded by people who are not up to doing the jobs they are being paid to do?

this is just embarrassing for them, NS must be too hands off. or the management repeatably shown t be incompetant...

especialy in light of recent bad press.

i don't see how even the rose tinted brigade can spin this as evidence of ns's masterplan and to be positive

Sorry, but how long have TVR, NS and anyone else up in Blackpool, in any sort of Management position, had, to sort out these pretty basic points of manufacturing !?!?!?!?. Jesus, the only other body that I know of who can continually get away with getting things sooooooooooo wrong is our bl**dy government !.

Sorry but a lot of this is left overs from PW's regin, he had given up on TVR long before he left and so it was in a mess to start with.

Nope. 3 days according to the newspaper report.

Sounds like a fk up of epic proportions for which those responsible should be fired immeditely but not the end of the world.

Calm down everyone.

Hi, Unrep, we have been here before (a few times) so I am not going to say anything except let's wait and see (while the residual on my Cerb goes into the basement)

PS Gaffer - How long after New Labour took over did they stop blaming John Major & the Tories for every cock-up? NS has been there for quite a while now (and I admit longer than I expected), smearing PW further won't wash.

I'm sure plenty of sensationalistic reporters are going to make this into something it isn't, and cause undue panic.
But then again, what do I know.

Edited to remove rose tinted poetry.

Look, I dont think anyone had any idea before PW left how bad a state TVR was in apart from a select few. It wont be an instant fix - it will take a few years to repair any damage done in his time with the old Speed 6 debate etc. I have known PW since I was a tiny person, and knew him on a personal level as well so am not out to smear him but to put the other side across, he wasnt the saviour, people think he was at the end - he was the cause of the current trouble and a lot of people will admit that. NS hasnt been squeeky clean either, but ffs - give the guy a break.

PLEASE,fellow Pistnheaders, do not join the brigade and cry over spilt milk. TVR are going through a volatile transition period at the moment, but I'm optimistic the company will bounce back hard. So for once lets stand behind the best british sports car manufacturer and show them some positive support.

what transition period:

it's getting on for three years now. it is not that complicated, pay your suppliers, you get parts. negotiate your way out of previous contracts, maybe, but in the mean time, keep the parts rolling..

It is only a smal car company, not nasa
