Work have just dropped the biggest bomb shell on me. I have been asked (or 'told might be a better way of putting it!) that I am to relocate to Australia for work for a minimum of 18 months in the next 2 months. I bought my T350c only 10 weeks ago and it now looks like I am going to have to sell it. I am GUTTED!!! I've just looked into importing it but I can not justify the cost - over $50,000 Aus dollars by the looks of it and that doesn't incorporate the hassle aswell. So, unless I want it hanging around in my garage it looks like its going to have to go.

The car has 11 months full renewable warranty remaining and is in perfect condition. 03 plate, Full leather, AC.. and has done 15k (picture on profile). What do you guys think I'll get back for it.

Any recommendations on what I should put her up for sale for? Forum user SpeedYellow can testify as to how 'good a condition' this T350 is.

If you're lucky. I know of a quite a few 2003 cars that have fetched much less. I had to compete with them when selling my 04 car and there were some seriously cheap cars available!

You sure? we sent a car to NZ from UK for about £4.5k by sea freight container - took about 8 weeks.

Tell them you want recompensing for the drop in value ... They're sending you to Oz, they should compensate you for any consequential loss.

Are you sure that your work can insist that you relocate to the opposite side of the world? Isn't this a major change in the terms and conditions of your employment (to which you don't have to agree)?

May be an Aussie can chip in,but I think cars over 50k Aus value incur a hefty luxury tax,there will still be a substantial tax though even under 50k.
If you go to the PH Aussie forum someone brought in a T350 last year,you may be able to pick his brains.
The other option is for for a tempory import,where you take it back home again,and pay no tax,however I don't know the maximum time allowed to drive on foreign plates is for.
I'd definetly look at binging a late model Tiv downunder,don't worry about spares and servicing,we're a resourcefull lot down here.


Forgot to say,surely you will have an allowance for moving/shipping from your company,when I moved back to NZ,we built a platform above the car in a 20ft container for household goods,so I looked at it as free/subsidised shipping for the car.
