Took the car out for a spin again today and I am getting a slight hesitation around 2000RPM. Nothing major just a little pause on acceleration and jerk on trailing throttle....

Any suggestions?

Just come back from a service and the chap I spoke to did mention that the HT leads probably need replacement sooner rather than later... Could it be this?

Oh, and its had a new fuel filter, fuel pump and fuel lines cleaned in the last 12 months (though that is no guarantee obviously!). Recommendations welcome.

Cheers,

Paul

Yes it could be - about this time last year I was having hesitation around 1600 and at about 3800-4500 revs

HT leads and plugs were the cure - cleaning under the dizzy helped too. Don't overlook ECU connectors - I have previously had them gunged up and corroded.

Obviously you have had the stepper motor cleaned - so that should all be OK.

Best of luck.

Yes , I've got this problem too. I've got a 4litre Chimaera, let me know what cured the problem but I'll try the leads first. Thanks

What stepper motor are you referring to, I've just bought the car so am trying to get to grips with the bits. Also, where are the ECU connectors located

If its flatspotting under acceleration then there's a good chance its the leads. Had an identicle problem on my old mx6, new leads fixed it.

If your getting lumpyness at low revs and throttle that clears up when you apply right foot, them I'm in the same boat and still trying to figure it out.

benboy - stepper motor looks after idle speeds and shoul dbe kept clean. Sits on top of plenum at rear - instructions in SH bible - get the book!

I had a similar problem with my Griff, which I made the mistake of ignoring until it died completely (in the middle of town, but being a TVR it somehow doesn't bother you too much!) Replaced the ignition amplifier (adjacent to the coil) and is now running like a dream.
Cost from Land Rover - £120, cost from independent £35.
Hope this helps. Oh, another symptom was that it only happened when hot - let it cool and it was fine again.
