20,000 miles coming up.

When I drive home this afternoon my Tamora will have done 20,000 miles.
Still got the original clutch, no engine rebuild (yet
), and was given the OK when it was serviced last month.
So I pursume I'm entering into the unknown now over the next 20,000+ miles.
I'm sure that other Tivs with the speed 6s have done over 20,000 miles. Well I'm all
for news on impending problems etc ..........
If the engine does go then I'm tempted to go for the 4.0L conversion
Anyway, I would'nt get rid of my Tiv for all the tea in China, unless I was getting a Sag of course

Hi Craig, I went for my 30,000 mile service after no engine problems and on the original clutch.
Problems were found meaning that the engine was rebuilt/blueprinted and converted to 4.0l. Also, while the engine was out the clutch was changed even though the old one was still going strong.
This doesn't mean the same will happen to you so good luck with yours.

My confidence in the reliability of the Tam is growing every day I drive it, but there is still that nagging feeling that something could go bang at any time. But I'm sure that it is just me being my usual paraniod self

, and once you are out driving in it that feeling soon goes away. The original 'Gris had approx. 20K on it in 10 months - and was then wiped out on the way to Le Mans. Clutch seals went, just prior to Nurburgring, but really that was about it.
The replacement 'Gris started at 2,700, now at 4,200 a couple of weeks later. Expect to rack up quite some miles on this one.

I've a 36k 3 year warranty on mine. I wonder what will happen when I get to my 30k service?! If it's the same as yours, nice 4.0l conversion more or less free. Not that I want the engine to wear out by 30k, but gotta be practical.
Is there a noticeable difference with the 4.0l conversion?

Absolutely. Just wondered if the difference was noticeable. I seem to remember that you need at least a 10% increase in power to notice the difference, and 350 - 375 doesn't fit that.
Wouldn't stop me doing it though.

I had the power steering mechanism go when I first purchased the car. They fitted a new part (Renault part) before I parted company with my cash. And it has just been the oil pressure sender unit problems. Seems like we have had identical problems.

They hardly seem like problems when you get a good run with no visits to the garage. I had the oil sender unit prob, speedo sensor, bracket to the roof and the power stearing all go with in about 2 months had must confess was thinking about selling up. But since then (touch wood) apart from not putting the cap on the coolant system properly and overheating I've not had a thing go wrong.
I've recently had the 36,000 mile service at TVR Power without no rebuild and original clutch! I was told that the clutch is on the way out, but that's not bad going.
I know what you mean though about always having that niggling feeling of somethiing going wrong but it didn't stop me doing 3,000 mile round trip to Monaco (via the Alps!) in May and then Le Man in June.
My advice is use it and enjoy it they Speed 6 seems to be much more reliable if its used on a regular basis.

Thats good going to still have the original clutch after 30k miles. I'm itching to go abroad with the Tamora but will do it May/June next year. There is no chance of me not using it regularly, can't seem to leave the Tamora alone. Always looking for excuses to drive it.

No I dont think he is. A fit 3.6 will be in excess of the factory figures.
It wont have the low down V8 grunt of most V8s but a drive in a fit T350 or a Tamora should convince you of its power.
