stupid pop up headlamps !

hi all
headlamp issues today - the left one pops up 3/4 of the way (rhs is fine)
if you pull it up the rest of the way it stays up no problem but then won't go down when you switch the light off until you twiddle the manual knob
any one any ideas before i rip it to bits and clean it all up
limit switch or sick motor ?

Take the headlight unit out, it may be that the linkage is loose and slipping.

Ditto. While your at it, use lashings of wd40 on the linkage - it may just be something sticking...

so the weekend job list grows from fix the steering and sort the heaters out to headlamp surgery as well

If theres life in the motor then a simple strip and clean should do it. Might be able to pop over on the weekend for a cuppa and a chinwag.

thanks - most helpful - i am going to sell it - i'm just trying to decide if i should get filthy dirty fixing the bits and bobs myself or just drive it down to mark at tower view and leave it for him to do - i'm looking round the workshop for crap to sell on ebay so i don't have to get my hands dirty
