For Your Info:

Took the wife away in the TVR last weekend, only about 200 miles round trip, got stuck in traffic for about an hour, just towards the end of the jam Trev started to misfire a bit when pulling off, fine when booting it.
Lived with it over the weekend then when we got home I parked her up in the garage for about a week (fitted new rear drop links, not had chance to test them out yet).

Came to start her up and nothing, had a surf on PH and found a thread about rotor arms, so that's where I started. I had a spare Lucas rotor arm, fitted it and away we went. After inspecting the old one there are no visible defects, it's about a year old, not Lucas though.
I'll be out tomorrow giving her a proper test.

Regards,

Paul

I had a similar thing with a spurious distributor cap and rotor arm, misfire at low revs under load. Both items were a few months and a few thousand miles old, neither were Lucas. Cap electrodes were a little burnt, but not unusually. Refitting the original Lucas parts which were more worn the problem went. I never had any trouble starting it though.

Paul, sorry to invade your thread, but need to fit one drop link to the nearside front (dry and squeaking like mad). Would you recommend doing both? and did you go for the factory parts or any kind of upgrade? Help appreciated. Regards Tim

Nake sure you end up with two identical drop links - you shouldn't mix and match different types in case they're different lengths. They'll tend to wear out in pairs, but as long as you're replacing with an identical one, I don't see any reason not to replace them singly.

Tim,

Purchased mine from Steve Heath Engineering, £60 a pair(https://delta.securesslhost.net/~shenglt/catalog/)

The reason I replaced mine was because I snapped the threaded rod when removing one of the drop links to replace the rear o/s lower wishbone, so I decided to remove the roll bar, paint and grease everything up, looks pretty neat under there with the new drop links.

Regards,

Paul.

Been for a good blast out this afternoon with the hood off, she is back to normal after changing out the rotor arm.
Maybe this bit belongs on another thread but, I have also noticed she is a lot more steady over bumps and divetts in the road and around corners due to the new drop links, well worth the money! I plan on doing the same to the front in the near future.

Regards,

Paul.
