Griff/Chim exhausts?

Anyone know if an exhaust from a Chimaera 500 will just bolt straight onto a Griffith 500?

I don't know from personal experience,but i have been told from a dealer that they are the same.The pre-cats are different to the 500's,in particular where they join the downpipe i'm told.

Mike, is this true? Can you be specific? Only I'm having trouble getting my exhaust to seat at the point where manifold meets cat [see thread on general gassing] and there was a mix-up with my exhaust. Cheers.

Don't tailpipes exit at more of an upward angle than a Chim??

I can't be that speific i'm afraid,it's only what i was told when i replaced my manifolds and 'y' piece.I get the impression that if you had a pre-cat version that it would be further out than your talking though,as it was a complete no-no,so JP told me(who made the new 'y' piece).I've also had trouble replacing the 'y' piece on the original system,just in the way you describe in the other thread.It was a bit easier to overcome for me,as the manifold gaskets were being replaced,and it was easier to loosen the manifolds off at the heads,to help align the 'y' piece.I dont think it will help if youve been given an exchange 'y' piece or manifolds,as i wouldn't be surprised if these things move a bit with all the heat,and the original items would fit each other better.Its interesting that ACT quote the same part no. for both griff and chim exhausts,so that confirms what the dealer told me.
Pupp was right about the RTV sealant,i used the Wurth brand and it worked a treat for me.

Hello blokette. Decided NOT to fiddle with it today as I AM going tomorrow. See you there.

I fitted a chim exhaust to my griff.

I was after a straight through exhaust and a friendly guy in the Chesterfield area had one
in his workshop.
Its not a straight swap though.

The extended golf club carrier on the chim means the exhaust is actually about 4" too long and the rear mount had to be moved too.

With no precats or main cat and no silencers, it sure is loud.
