throttle mod

Just had 12k service and had a throttle cable/linkage upgrade as recommended by factory... I was told about it before the service and had to pay for the work doing.... Should I have had to pay for it.?

If yes it seems a bit crap that the factory do a redesign and then charge customers to do the upgrade...

As I understand it, the throttle-cable modification would have been done FOC if the car was still under warranty; I had it done during some inter-service tappet fettling, out of warrenty - I think it came to about £150.

The mod was necessary as without it the cable snapped! Mine snapped, but LUCKILY it happened when the servicing dealer was road-testing it. At the time there was no mod - the dealer re-routed the cable to prevent the problem - something they had worked out as they had had others with the same occurence! To be charged for this is an absolute disgrace!

No, don,t pay for it. I did,nt and mine is a Nov 2000,
the factory is aware of the fault!. Ring Jason Oxley at the Factory
