Hi,
I am thinking of buying an Aston Martin DB7 convertible and there were s few questions that i have......

1) Why are the converitbles cheaper than the coupes
2) What do i need to check when buying an aston martin of this type
3) Is it the best car to buy if you were looking at spending about £40,000 - i dont really want a porsche. Just havent ever liked them.
4) What sort of costs are we looking at for maintaining the Aston per year?
5)What insurance group would it come under and if poss, could you tell me of a company that offers a competitive rate?

Thanks for the help

The convertibles especially seem to be very milaeage and condition dependant. Generally speaking the decent convertibles are at a slight premium over the equivelant coupe.

Best car for £40k...thats a tough one. It all depends on what you're looking for in your car!

Servicing is around £450 (twice a year) + bits of course and insurance is group 20. Mine costs me a similar amount to my previous Jag XKR

Hey Aeroresh!

Thank you for your reply.

I really am confused. Up to £1000 is quite reasonable for a car of that type. This one i was looking at is a 51 reg.

I will get the fullo details and post them here for you to look at.

Just gotta figure out how.

You said you used to have an XKR, mate of mine says that the ASTON DB7 is a glorified XKR

What do you think?

glorified XJS more like!

Feels very similar to the XK to drive but the V12 engine in the Aston is something else especially when combined with a manual gearbox and sports exhaust.

Apart from that you get hand stitched leather where in the jag you'd get horrible hard plastic!

Im 34 and pay £600 fully comp with full NCB and no claims.
