race seats- where can I try 'em

I'm after some nice black trackday seats and need to park my bum in a few to get a feel for a few. I know I can go to Demon Tweeks but they are a bit of a run from Berks! I can get good deals on Recaro jobbies but even their budget items are a bit pricey for the Lizard wallet. I'm thinking budget Sparco or OMP & really need to sit in a few coz some are designed for 12yr old anorexic children not 6ft plus men who like pies

Any thoughts? or any PHers want to shift a pair currently sat in the garage?

I could ask about the black OMP cloth buckets that I ditched from the pimpmobile, if you want. Otherwise, I know a pair of Corbeau adjustables (ie reclining) buckets for 300 quid the pair (although these come with runners for a 3 series).

Xtreme (extreme?) in Harlow is probably the nearest Max Muppet outlet.

Grand prix racewear at Silverstone?

Do a search for Sparco on Ebay. There were two pairs of race seats for sale last week - one ex Subaru and the other kevlar jobbies out of a 'kit' rally car.

Ripspeed at Halfords usually have a demo area with a few different seats bolted down - I know the one I work at has (halfords, team valley, gateshead).

Cheers guys. Great idea about racewear they are not far from work, so much better than a trip to Wales for Demon Tweeks! also if I can fight my way through the Nova bolt on boys I will check out Halfords.

Momo Carbon / Kevlar Competition Seats

These seats have been recently removed from a Citroen Saxo Kit Car used on the British Formula 1600 rally championship. Although used, they are in excellent condition. They can be mounted using either floor or side brackets. You will need to get brackets to mount the seats, available from most tuning shops. One of the seats has "Paul Spooner" sewn onto the back of the seatrest and someone has started to remove it with tweezers and a pair of scissors, but ran out of patience. You can either remove it or put a velcro patch over it. The yellow shoulders are suede. The seats are supposedly normal width, but I'm a 36" waist and I find them tight, so ideally you should be thinner than me!

They are FiA homologated which is great if you are going to use them for competition. Unfortunately, the photo's do not do the carbon / kevlar weave justice, the seats look very tricky.

These are proper Carbon / Kevlar seats, do not confuse them with cheap imitations. As a bonus, they are for sale with NO RESERVE.

Not me selling them by the way!!!

Try corbeau forza's - they're the widest steel frame seat available AFAIK, a couple of cm wider than the Sparco, Cobra and OMP seats (according to Demon Tweeks catalogue), I fit in them fine In my Mini, and I'm 6'3" and 17.5 stone.
You could try Extreme autosport in essex - a bit boy racer but they used to have loads of different seats around to try...

Last time I was there, they were only doing wheels, but you never know they might do seats now. Alternatively, as already metioned, try halforbes. I know the one in Bracknell has a few seats in!
