Any bright ideas on how to cure squealing brakes? It's embarrassing paperbag

Audi A4 2.0 FSI, new(ish) pads, discs look fine - squeals like a banshee when warm/hot.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Remove pads and 'rough them up' with sandpaper?

Fit some anti-squeal shims between the pads and the pistons.

It should have the shims. If fitted clean them and the back of the pad. Apply a very very thin smear of copper loaded grease to back of pad, shim, piston rim and edge of pad where it contacts the housing (but only the metal edge).

Yes, I have to do it on my race car after each race, when I can be arsed.
Just use some 40 or 80 grit on a flat surface and rub the pads evenly over it. Or as has been said, fit some anti squeal shims or pads to the backs of them, or use Copaslip.
edited: thinking about it you should use Copaslip on the backs and rubbing edges of the pads as a matter of course anyway.

Strangely enough a customer came into my uncle's garage today with squealing brakes and they had to remove the anti-squeal shims from one side to cure it.
