V8S prices.

V8S in classifieds for £6.5k and others not selling around £7.5 to £8K. Has the bottom dropped out of the market?

They were selling for £9k plus earlier in the year.

That one has done alot of miles 97k miles, mind you there's a beauty for £7k below the £6.5k one that has done 55k miles.

Bit of a thread hijack here, but £7k for a S V8, versus about £8k for a '95 Chim, why choose the S V8? As a potential but undecided Tiv owner I'm very keen to know more

Well, I can answer this one, recently buying a V8S....

I have driven a 4.0 griffith, and 4.0 chimaera. Both are very nice cars but a 4.0 V8S is a better handling car, is quicker and in my view more exclusive due to the fact that less numbers were made, and in general people don't know what it is.

Yes, the griffs and chimaera's are more modern but for me the S has a charm of it's own. It's a lot more brutal than the precat griffs and chims.

The 500's are a different thing, but for me the V8S is the way to go. I've owned a few different varieties of tiv, all have different charms, the V8s is visually subtle, but a complete loony under the skin..

I've recently bought a V8S for 6.6 with about 55k on it, in very good condition. Very happy with it, I do think prices have dropped a little but there again it may be the right time of year to buy?

I think its tri-fold, one it's coming to the end of the summer when prices normally depress, two is the number of chims coming onto the market. Thirdly its the uncertainty of TVR's in general and whether they will be around in the coming years, which I beleive is also affecting dealers and alike.
Without a doubt the V8S is the sweetest of the 4ltr Tivs which happens to also be the rarest and quickest, go figure why the prices are so low .
Mine had bills for twice the price I sold it for too

I may be biassed, but IMHO, looks better, goes better, (same engine as the 4L Chims/Griffs, but the car is lighter), sounds better, (no cats on mine), I'd always go for a later version of an earlier model than a new version of a later one, (time to get the bugs fixed)..

Plus its the one I always wanted when younger..

I've got nothing at all against the alternatives, but I'd not sell the V8S for one..

Oh So cheap, almost worth buying a spare, say for when inexplicably your main one suddenly drops 1 and a half cylinders just before a 2000mile dash through Europe..

D'oh, I feel I'll never live the polish down! I still love the S2 as well, took her out for a brief, quickish run yesterday, the noise, the 'chuckability', lovely. Going to try and think of a suitable pub Loughborough side and put a call out the Shepshed S's and everyone else who might be interested, not too far from you Ian, Simon?

Slight hijack, there's a pub just south of Kegworth on the right on the A6, think its called The Otter. Used to serve good food when I was in the area.

I think you absolutely right there harry, i also think the car is vastly is overlooked its certainly my favouite! i also think owners believe that when they are selling they dont believe an s is worth as much as a griff/chim which is nonsense!

The Otter is a good pub although the car parking can get a bit tight. It used to be the meeting placwe for Lotus owners many years ago.
It may be worth a try, say mid week to see what happens.

thats the vital ingrediant missing from the chim as against the S IMHO. The Chim/Griff is far more "grown up" but thats why its not so much fun, albeit perhaps a better car if you are limited to 1 parking space.
