Left home this afternoon about 4.15pm to find M62 eastbound tailed back some way, so took the back roads to the stables. Heard on the traffice announcements that the motorway was closed Westbound and that the Air Ambulance was in attendance. Before setting off for home, checked that the motorway was re-opened, so headed westbound from J38 back to Howden. As we neared our junction, we saw some HUGE skidmarks from lane 3 across to the hard shoulder, then a lot of flattened barries and then about 100m from the road in the middle of a copse was a 'small black car', with so much damage I have no idea what it was.

There was carnage, I just hope it wasn't fatal, but I'd be amazed if anyone could have survived it.

At times like this I have real sympathy and lots of admiration for the emergency services and just wanted to share the shocking feelings of seeing something like that from a distance.

The long lane into the village under the m.way bridge was also closed tonight with lots of flashing lights ... just about where the slight bendy bit is. Someone else either very careless or very unlucky.

I take it you haven't seen the recent crashed Lambo pics ... horrific.

I didn't get stuck in that one, but one of my good mates missed it by about 2 mins before they shut the road.

Air ambulance etc was out apparently.
