4.5 BV

Iv'e come across a factory 4.5 BV with very low mileage.Thing is, at the moment the last thing I need is another TVR,however i'd love to in the not to distant future have one TVR,"piece of history" of the Griff/Chim era as a long term keeper.
What do the collective think,will it be much more of a collectable car than the other Griff's in years to come?

If you can afford it, yes it should become very collectable, if that's your bag, so to speak.

Yip,my thoughts are the Griff in 5/10 years time will gain a very cult collectable status,(it's nearly there already)but at the end of the day its only an engine,is there enough rarity value to give it a decisive difference in the classic market in years to come.

Last I knew there were 12 original 4.5's made but 1 was lost a couple of years back.

We have 1 for sure in the Bristol region but the engine went pop and was replaced with 4.6.

This is the apparently the factory fitted two peice hardtop, also left the factory in 93 with rollcage and Chim wheels.

That looks exactly the item I was trying to uncover in my Hard Top thread, which I've now bumped FYI. The one I saw was red, to match the car. Given that there was a lot of response to that thread, yet none of it uncovered any known examples, it may be just as rare as the 4.5 bv option.

And a factory 4.5BV - would I have it? In an instant if the piggy bank was fat enough

We used to see a proper 4.5bv at harrogate when i worked there, i think the owner lent the car to his brother whilst away on holds, said bro promptly destroyed the car in an incident.
The car was then rebuilt at a race shop somewhere in manchester I think over the period of a few years. Even tho the car was badly damaged the owner obviously thought it enough of a rarity to have it restored, and I thank him for that .. we can't afford to lose small volume factory cars like this .. so if you have the chance to buy one I say go for it

It's for sale here for roughly 20k UKP with only 15000 miles,my 96 Griff is worth about 22 to 25k here,so im in a dilema what to do.

I would if it wasn't in a 1000 separate pieces,my business partner is already having fits as the factory looks more like a TVR wreckers yard..

Yeah, but I can't aspire to the 4.5, the hard top maybe. Anyhow you have a 4.6 in the garage.
