Don't think that is the recommended oil.. that would be OK in old V8's..

I think it's Mobil 1 0W 40 ..

Jesus man he was only asking what oil to use. You may as well have saved your energy and not written that useless comment.

I would take whatever oil is in the tank Mobil one 10W50 is in mine as anything less i've been told is too thin by a few people.

People might tell you they use different i'm just telling you what i use in a T350 RR

I use 15/50 for the very same reason in both our Sagaris and Tamora. 10/50 is easier to get hold of I understand.

I wouldnt dream of using the 0/40 unless thats all I had as a top up.

There is a sticker in general gassing for oils and there are some cleverer peolpe than me that can advise.

I'm guessing you are past the running-in period (?)

At the 6k service the dealer replaced the oil with Mobil 1. 0/40 IIRC though many here say it is too thin (so I'm keeping an eye on it). They even gave me a "free" carton to carry around.

I'd phone your dealer and ask what they put in last, and get some of that. It is very likely to be Mobil 1.

Maybe 0/40 is the better oil? :rushesofftodumpoilfromtwocars: paperbag

unless you regularly start/drive the car at minus 10degs then 15/50 is better..keeps the oil consumption down ...I use Silkolene Pro-R in all my cars ..the Saggy has just had 6K mile service and I think Ive maybe put .5L in it in 6K miles ...on the old tuscan post rebuild using the 'recommended' 0/40 it would drink 1L every thousand miles, then changed to 15/50 and it dropped to about 1L every 3-4K miles

I do apologize for my unnecessary remark. I use Mobil 0-40 as recomended by TVR since the birth of the SP6 engine. I do tend to keep the oil 1/2 litre over filled being a dry sump. I also sometimes use a petrol additive (Millers) mainly on track days (Not octane booster) as i dont belive that works.

Some say that 5-40 is ok but anything thicker and you had better get expert advise as i belive this could cause oil way problems which are already well documented.

Hope this helps....

Mark.

If you speak to Dom he recommends 10-40 semi synthetic for the S6. So many different recommendations is hard to know which is best
