Brake upgrade-Fitting grooved discs??

I am in the process of rebuilding front suspension and braking system to my 350 series2. Upon fitting the grooved discs i have noted that they are left and right sided due to the cut of the disc. Now there's the issue. Whilst cleaning the protective stuff off the discs i may well of put them back on the wrong box....DOH! Can anyone tell me which way the cut is supposed to be? If i am looking at the fitted disc, should the groove be a forward 'slash', ie: / or a backward one ie: \
Hope this post makes sense in someone elses head and not just mine!!!

Mine are forward slash in your description, meaning if moving in forward direction the grove on the outside of the disk passes/sweeps the brake pad first, followed by the more inner end.

Could even be that it doesn't matter, as you see setups with forward and also back slash. I am happy with mine, and it is like this since 4 years.

If the curved slot hits the bottom of the pad first, it will try to eject the pad from the caliper. You might wanna make sure your retaining pins are in good shape if you go for that option.

If you have ventilated discs, make sure you fit them with the vanes pointing forwards at the top and backwards at the bottom so that they work as centrefugal fans. It doesn't matter which way the grooves on the braking surfaces are, they're only angled so that they give a gradual feed in to the front of the pad. They're often machined the opposite way to the vents for reasons of strength, but there's no more to it than that.
