Well just had my old girl on the rolling road at track car solutions and she made quite a healthy 364.8 BHP I am very happy with the result as the car is a 1996 4.2.

Mods done are limited to linked decat pipes cone air filters and the induction manifolds ported. Joo said the car was already very well mapped and would not gain anything by spending a large chunk on a comprehensive remap.

The power and torque curves are quite smooth, which came as a bit of a suprise as mine still has the clatter cams fitted. All in all very pleased with the result, what do you good people think?

Thats an excellent result, and I think the highest 4.2 rolling road result I've heard of anyway!!! So, did you say your ECU map is standard? And how many miles has the car done? What about the exhaust, i.e. sports and decat??? Also, do you know what is was putting out prior to the linked decats being installed? And what was the peak torque?

That's nice.
Alan had mine done earlier this year and it was 353bhp. I think it's standard.

Yes the map is standard TVR and the car has only done 19.5k (I know I should use it more). The exhaust has sports pipes and now the linked decats. I dont know what it was prior to the work being done and I will have to have a look at the graph when I get home to work out the peak torque.

<dusts off trumpet in prepartion of sickening display of blowing his own>

365.7 done at Charlie's earlier this year - having done that I will come over all humble and admit that there is another I know of who ran at Charlie's a month or so later and pipped me by a bit also, can't remember who it was now - All good figures and obviously when it comes down to narrow margins run on different days it is kind of an irrelevance.

What mods have you had done? I must admit I am well pleased, there are a lot of 4.5 owners out there that are getting no where near when standard. I know mine is not fully standard but not a lot done to gain the figures. Anybody broke 370 with a 4.2? and if so what was done to acheive it.

All great results from those 4.2s and all within a nat's bits of each other thumbup

I tried a live map with an extra 3 degrees of advance on Paul's car and it gained 1bhp this is entirely typical on 4.2 cerbies where the most I've ever gained is 6bhp.

There's enough mixture to safely increase airflow by about 15hp and still be very safe, so absolutely no point mapping these cars at all . All i did on Paul's was correct the part throttle mixture at the decat strong pulse points to stop the adaptives going to crazy numbers.

All in all a very strong engine and his car is in stunning condition too, all credit to you Paul

No mods on mine that I am aware of (other than decat and sports zorst but they don't contribute anything so I hear). It had however just come out of the garage about a week before from a big overhaul (mostly chassis) and everything was freshly set up as it should be. Should be running it again in September at the Porsche Tvr day (Joo you still coming down to that? Be good to meet you) - will be surprised if I get the same result this time however, certainly preparing myself for dissappointment.

Thanks Joo the car was stunning on the way home, got stuck in traffic and temp never got over 95ish so well pleased with the cooling mod. The linked decat pipes do take the harshness off the noise, but still pops and bangs nicly on the over run. I like it, plus whatever you did to the cold air fan worked a treat on the way back.

paul, I cant believe your BHP is so high! My car came of the RR yesterday and it is sitting at 300BHP with nearly identical Torque 299.9 why is my figure so crap compared to your almost perfect book reading?

My car has no engine mods and is a 4.2? Anybody any reasons? am i the only fader?

Good to read some strong figures. I am going to see jooles next friday to see what my old 4.2 can produce, and then straight on to croft for the BNG trackday.

Different cars, Different Days, Different Conditions, Different rolling roads all equals to a Different Figure hehe However, it also depends on the mileage, condition and wear'n'tear( + other bits cba to mention.

Just had the TVR Craft 4.5 cerbera on the dyno again, done a very quick remap using the mapping box to apply a fuel and ignition trim across the whole rev range .. midrange mixture was a bit weak ( lambda 0.95) and very top end was a bit rich (lambda 0.70) but it made 370lb.ft and 404.9bhp thumbup with a bit of tweaking on the map those figures would have been slightly higher but already it's showing great promise.

More news in the next few days once the short induction is on it and mapped bespoke.

Nice one TVR Craft.

Jools,
You had better hurry up,

It finishes in five hours.
That is one cheap car, considering what it now is.

Was this rebuild just a longetivity build? The figures are average otherwise arnt they, well at the top admitidly, but not near the 430 - 440 mark

Dont flame me, just an observation!

It'd probably make about 410 if the fuelling was tidied up so about 20-25bhp up on a std remapped 4.5 which normally make 385/390 for good ones on my dyno .. i think it had some porting work ie Craft's version of a red rose maybe? I will have to find out what was done exactly, but I've seen (supposed) factory red rose cars down at 365bhp with no apparent faults so there's huge variations
