Just took my T350 in for it's first MOT (doom mongers note it passed with flying colours).
Whilst on ramps I was having a nosey underneath.
There is an air intake underneath the car perhaps a third of the way down.
Is this the Engine air intake ?
If so, then no more Fords or deep puddles for me.

Worry thee not!

I had the same thought and checked it out, as there are a number of fords in our County. There are 2 small intake holes higher up for this purpose, that the engine would easily suck sufficient air through if the main inlet was blocked by water. There wouldn't be enough vacuum to suck the water up as well.

we had a sales incentive a few years ago of an elise for the week for the top sales person. On one occasion a woman won it and her hubby had an elise already, so she asked for a TVR. Fair enough we said. So she got it during the really bad floods. The first thing that happened was that she got it sideways and wacked a wheel on the curb. Then (wheel replaced) she zoomed through a big puddle/small flood and vapour-locked the engine with the water ingested! That cost us and her a lot!
