Stability over 100

Any ideas why the front end seems to go a bit light and unstable. Everything is fine until 100 and then the front seems to feel as if its lifting.

I presume you mean over 100Km/hr.......

3 things

check the suspension geometry as it is absolutly critical on these cars

make sure the little chin spoiler underneath the car hasn't been ripped off

Check tyre pressures



Otherwise they should be pretty stable at speed

Must admit, mine used to feel a tad light at the front over a ton, but It seemed to feel a lot worse in the wet.

I've had some new shocks fitted, and at speeds of over 130 it feels very stable.

My chin spoiler's never been on.

What tyre pressure would you recommend? At the minute I have 24 front and 26 rear.

mine was a bit like that checked my tyres and they were all around 20 psi DOH!! I'VE PUT 26 FRONT 28 REAR i've not used the car since as its been p...ing down the last 3 days
and check for your chin spoiler as above

I'm on standard 16's & the book says, 22 front, 24 rear.

Sustained high speed 25 & 28.

It doesn't mention if those are hot or cold though.

I've always assumed cold

I had a similar problem on the Autobahn this year. It was simply the tyre pressures, which had become uneven after a week of high speed driving. I made the fronts 26 and the rears 28.

Chin spoiler is ok still in place. I will try tyre pressure at 26 front and 28 back.

I'm on 16's too (running the stock 22/24 front/rear(cold))and I have a chin spoiler.

Never noticed any problems over 100 (been the frightening side of 160 a few times & thats fine too).

Check your suspension is in good shape! just changed mine to TCS Pro tech and it is a different car!!!

One of mine was beginning to leak and it didn't fill me with confidence especially over 130

I would say those tyre pressures are too high. There was another thread that was on here recently about tyre pressures, check it out.

Mine felt loose with high pressures. Was very high at 28 Fr and Rr though.

Now running 23 front and 25 rear and is much better. Used to feel loose in a straight line around the dead ahead but dropping pressures has improved that greatly.

Changed the tyre pressure to 25 front and 24 rear after speaking to TCS and problem solved. Car is much more planted to the road and seems to grip the corners much better.
P.S Peter see you at track day on Monday, wouldnt mind seeing how your car is going with the Protechs on. By the way I have just put on a set of linked Decats from TCS, in a word BRILLIANT.
