I've been waiting for this game for over a year since I saw a preview in a magazine. I've just been playing on this and it shows a lot of promise. The graphics are superb and it looks HUGE, giving you a lot of freedom. The controls are a bit of a pain but I'm sure I'll get used to them.

Excellent, was hoping this would be out today as they'd said it would on the site. Looks ridiculously over the top but damn good fun.

It's also out for the PC btw.I just grabbed the 360 version.

Looks fun, shame it's all so mental though, i was hoping for a more far cry type approach, or at least a little bit. :/
What you get is something that is a combination of the farcry visuals, the GTA driving/shooting and added in non realistic over the top stunts to cater for (mostly) the younger thrill seekers.Think Tony Hawks on acid.

I was gutted for example that i managed to outrun loads of cars and people shooting at me by driving over a cliff, opening my chute and gliding to the beach below.
Then, after running for what seemed a mile along the beach i crept back towards the road through shed loads of jungle and was instantly surrounded by loads of cars and people again!.That's some damn fine policing!.
Many of them simply drove at me even though it meant them smashing into trees and flying into the air as a result too.
It made my escape ultimately pointless because as soon as you put your toe-nail onto the road at any location, the enemy appeared and attacked again.
I also managed, by pressing a single button, to leap into a valley from up high and grab a helicopter by the tail fin, and then, by pressing another button, swing inside and take it over (through the blades btw!).

If the demo is an indication of what the full game will be like, it won't be one i will have much interest in.At least GTA gives you some sense of what it would be like to be put in that position and doesn't go stupidly over the top.
Jumping from car to car (via the roof if you wish using the stunt button) soaking up bullets and having full on action (including the insta-chute) almost all of the time isn't my cup of tea.

After playing, i feel like someone who asked for a semi realistic driving sim type game, say Toca 3 (as apposed to GTR/GTL/Rfactor etc) and then got sold Burnout.

Maybe the full game will be a bit less full on though, but it would of been nice if the demo didn't turn into robot wars shortly after starting.

I really liked it, totally over the top but really good fun, closest thing yet to being like a good old fashioned movie action hero, think Arnie in Commando and you're there, takes loads of bullets to take you down, you can jump out of a moving car and ride along on the roof... It won't be toned down at all for the full game, it knows it's ridiculous and loves it. Graphics are amazing though, draw distance is incredible and if you can see it you can get there.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, it is a blast.
I just wonder why they made it look so nice, which let's face it, they
do to make it feel more realistic, and then allow you to drive cars from the roof
and leap through the blades of helicopters etc.

It would have been superb (for me at least) if you could choose your approach to the
missions.Creeping about in a splinter cell stylee for example and taking the odd risk when you need to, or going in all guns blazing.
The latest hitman game is a perfect example of that.I suppose i was just expecting it to be
much like that.
I would get similar feelings if they released GTL 2 say and allowed you to use rockets and oil slicks

Yeah I can see where you're coming from there, jumping through rotor blades was a little OTT, as was being able to steer the cars whilst you are sat on the roof. I think it doesn't want to be seen as encroaching on GTA's bit so they went for a different approach, as opposed to Saints Row which copies GTA a little too much.

BF2 is a monster game on PC, the 360 version compared to the PC isn't any good at all. I'd say it's the best online game around for the PC, although counterstrike is a classic online game.

That's pretty crazy. Any idea how big that is in relation to GTA: San Andreas?

Is it all on just the one island or a couple?
