55 New Scameras in Shropshire

Until this year we've been entirely free of fixed scameras in Shropshire. Instead we've had high visibility policing (good), good traffic engineering (though with too many traffic lights), education and the occasional officer with a hand-held radar.
The leader on the front page of the Shropshire Star today titled CRACKDOWN ON SPEEDING tells us that 55 cameras are to be set up in the county as part of a multi million pound initiative to "slash road deaths by a third"
Of course I have already started my letter to the newspaper to put them right on the statistical bo**ocks used by the government to justify these things. I will also point out some of the other issues of which the parochial Shropshire folk are simply unaware at the moment.
