(With many thanks to Clarkeyjnr for starting the original thread a couple of weeks ago)

After an agonising wait my PSE is now fitted, and like Clarkeys and many others no electrics or vacuum connection. All I can say is yes, Yes, YES !!! Absolutely fantastic, haven't stopped grinning yet, fantastic awesome sound and I KNOW that it releases no more BHP, but I have to say my 4S feels much faster !

Downsides ? Well the right side of my head has been wet for two days due to driving everywhere in the rain with my window down - oh, and my fuel consumption has plummetted which may just be something to do with continually dropping one (or two or three) gears just to experience that stunning wailing howl !!!

Three hours at my independant, and treated myself to a pair or twin oval tailpipes while I was at it so that no one is left in any doubt exactly where the sound is coming from !!

Best money I have EVER spent IMHO (apart of course what I spent to buy the car in the first place) - and I very much doubt I will ever bother having the electrics retrofitted as I cant see myself ever having the need to switch it off !

If you dont have one yet - get one !

(On a separate note the Gliptone leather conditioner recommended on another thread is also a fantastic product, quick, easy, works and also smells like a new car again)

Sorry must go, sun's come out and I have to get the roof down and scare the neighbours !

Do it, and do it soon !!

Congratulations welcome to the PSE club. I have the switch and never use it. hehe

Just out of interest, how much did you pay for your twin pipes from the OPC?

Mine too! thumbup

If you're got a 996, get a sports exhaust (doesn't have to be PSE).

It was from an independant, but they are porsche original parts, at £167.00 each - mines the 4S and i think you'll find they are a bit more expensive for some reason. They just look so much better with the wide body than the single oval types IMHO.

PSE transforms the quality and character of the 996.

In fact, if you've got a 996, but hanker after a 997, save yourself a lot of money - fit a PSE and your 996 will feel like a new car.

Obviously send the kids round to their mates houses for tea (and breakfast, and dinner etc etc)

Breakdown:

Sports Exhaust £1020 plus VAT
Labour 3 hours at £70 plus VAT (guess I could have saved by going to an ordinary garage but didnt want the risk of something going horribly wrong, or them not having the correct clamps etc)
Consumables - disc cutter blade to get the rusted bolts etc off and new rear bumper clips or screws or something (Obviously I didnt care at this point, just wanted to get in and thrash the nuts off it !!) £15 plus VAT
2 exhaust tip clamps at £6 plus VAT (originals rusted solid - see "consumables" above)

Total price for aural happiness £1476.90
For everything else there's Mastercard !

Not 'till they leave home matey (and i doubt it even then!!)

Mind you Christmas isnt too far away so maybe a line like "There wont be quite so many presents this year as I want you to be the coolest kids in the village zooming round to school and yr mates houses in daddy's porker with the real kewl sporty noise"

Dont forget to do that rapper thing with yr hands and fingers that has children cringing when done in public !

How about selling one of your kidneys on e-bay? Got to be worth a shot if it means life with a PSE hehe

Design911.com have genuine Porsche oval tips for the 996 C2/4 to mirror those oft seem on tt's - £259 plus VAT which seems far more paletable than the £400 plus VAT Ves996 was quoted by his OPC.

Its my birthday next week and they were on the list.........but as the bank account is empty I suspect i've got more chance of a bunk up than I have shiny new exhaust tips.

Ballcock I can well understand your situation - just out of interest - how are the kids at sweeping chimneys?

Same engine as C2 and C4, but has to propell a bit more weight and girth.

all later 996s (incl. C2/C4) and therefore all C4S had a 3.6 not 3.4 like yours - but the 3.4 and 3.6 don't sound different so same effect
