Bolts ??

question for anyone that has already done a body off restoration, I'm lifting the body this weekend and it would save a lot of time if anyone has kept a list of bolt sizes for most of the major running gear, then I could send Gina out with a shopping list

have not kept a list of sizes but what i did do was take 1 of each for patterns to local stockists - they managed to match every one including the shouldered bolts for trailing arms - diff carrier etc - got all new nuts and washers too

Thanks Ian, Well the bodies now off, it took two of us five hours to do, unfortunately discovered that the drivers side trailing arm is obviously seriously affected by the metal worm, not had a good look at the passenger side yet but assume that it will be similar. Worst problem is one of my own doing, I've lost the key for the locking wheel nuts !!!!!

Hi John, I,m removing the body off mine in a couple of weeks you said it took you 5 hours, seems good to me what methord did you use? and what time scale do you think it would take you?

We used a 2ton engine crane and hoisted each end in turn untill we reached the required height then supported the body on 6x2s resting on 4 builders trestles, others have done it by using several people to lift it, all I can say is it's bloody heavy and I admire anyone thats done it that way. be prepared to find the damage a lot worse than you expect!!!!
